American Musical and Dramatic Academy

AMDA's Summer Conservatory empowers young artists to choose their own path within our three performing arts disciplines. Residential and commuter programs in NYC and LA are open to all talented high school students completing grades 8-12 during the 2015/16 school year.

High School Students – (EXPLORER) 14+ years old and living in Solano County. GPA average 2.0 while in school. Must be able to contribute at least 10 hours of volunteer time to program per month. Galileo Summer Intern

This summer, gain great experience in an amazingly supportive and fun working environment. Galileo is looking for Summer Interns to support operations of our innovative science-based programs at 38 summer day camp sites. Work in the camp office, assist in the classroom, and participate in all-camp games, skits and activities. Being a Summer Intern means developing as a professional while having a crazy amount of fun with great campers and new friends.

UC Berkeley Marvell Nanofabrication Laboratory: Summer Internship Program for High School Girls

Juniors & Seniors- The Nanolab is a research facility at UC Berkeley where researchers in engineering and science develop next generation electrical devices that go into integrated circuits - IC’s, also known as silicon chips); design and fabricate MEMS - Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems - tiny devices that have all kinds of applications, from airbag sensors in cars to probes that are used in the human brain; and synthesize and integrate new nano materials - to be used in energy and environmental technologies

Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute

The Program provides the students with a clinical research training experience to stimulate interest in pursuing a career in biomedical, clinical or behavioral research in a friendly and nurturing environment. Scientific mentors in the program work at CHORI and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland. Six students are chosen each spring for this program.

Rising Juniors & Seniors- The program helps students gain a greater understanding of how nonprofits create impact in the community and helps develop them as the next generation of community leaders through two components: A summer eight-week paid internship with a nonprofit organization selected by the bank. This internship is designed to provide opportunities for the students to develop and apply leadership skills through hands-on work experience, while raising their awareness of community issues addressed by their Host Organization.

The Summer Math and Science Honors Academy (SMASH) is a free of cost, STEM-intensive, college preparatory program for underrepresented high school students of color. SMASH boasts a rigorous 5-week, 3-year summer STEM enrichment program which provides access to rigorous coursework and access to mentors, role models, and support networks of students of color. SMASH scholars remain engaged during the school year through monthly STEM activities and workshops. The program not only reinforces the students’ STEM academic identities, but also focuses on developing their critical thinking, civic awareness, leadership and sense of social responsibility.

The California State Summer School for Mathematics and Science, COSMOS, is a 4-week summer residential program for high achieving math and science students. Students live on campus and attend subject specific classes taught by UC faculty and researchers. The program is open to 8th-12th grade high school students. This intense academic program is intended to inspire and encourage young people to pursue future study in a STEM related field.
