Vallejo High School News
By: Harmie Rubinos
Vallejo High School has provided functional iPads to the Biotech and VAPA academy students as well its staff members as of January 25th. This has been in an on-going process which started with providing the Hospitality students with the technology last school year.
The goal is to provide each student with this valuable technology. "When every student has an iPad it's really easy to incorporate it into the classroom," says Activities Director Mr. Johansen.
There may be problems if students decide to abuse this resource and neglect their classes. Some teachers have developed a process to prevent this happening in their classrooms.
Sophomore Prescillia Toe explains a method used by Biotech teacher, Ms. Jackson: " There is three colored cards, green, yellow, and red. The green on means we are going to use our iPads so we should have it out. The yellow one means that we might or might not use it, but it's 'apples up'; meaning the iPads should be facing down. The red means don't use it."
There are clear positives if students and teachers should acknowledge and use the iPads wisely, effectively, and educationally. It is a great way to prepare for the ever evolving high-tech world that we live in.
Students of the Week
The following students are being recognized as Students of the Week for the Week of January 15th. Congratulations and continue to be leaders amongst your peers at Vallejo High!
